Engineered Case Manufacturers Inc. (ECM) was founded by Steve Binder in 1988.
As a musician, Steve was tired of having his equipment damaged due to the shoddy protective cases available commercially, so he started building his own.
Others in the music industry asked Steve how they could get such a case. He decided to put down his drum sticks and build a better case company, one that specialized in building the best cases possible.
Founded on the principle of using the finest materials, ECM started building custom heavy duty cases for customers who needed the best and recognized the value of a long-lasting case. Additionally, ECM wanted to ensure cases were repairable by using rivets that could be easily drilled out to replace damaged panels or hardware, an inevitability in the harsh environment of shipping by commercial carriers. As the business has evolved, we expanded our product line to include aluminum cases in 1995 and plastic molded cases in 1997.
Finally in 2001, at the request of our clients, we expanded our offering to include lighter duty cases. The same high-quality construction principles are now applied to lighter duty, stapled, and stapled and glued cases. Not all customers require the level of protection of our top-of-the-line case family but all customers want the best quality their money can buy.
